Family moved to Wallan in September, 1941 and Mary attended school there for 3 months. Family then moved to Diamond Creek (home of her grandma) before moving house to John Street, Eltham. Mary and her sister Florence both worked at Myers in Melbourne. Mary later worked as a seamstress for Latoof and Callil.
